10. If this project did not change the way you think, write how this project gave further
evidence to support your existing opinion about applying algebra.
Algebra can be applied to different circumstances of life. We can use basic
algebra to figure out prices of the unknown and the grand totals without the variable. I
use basic algebra at work to figure out the grand total of prices and how many monthly
payments someone must do in order to pay off their instrument rental. By doing this
project, I received further evidence that supports my current opinion about applying
algebra to real world problems by knowing that there are other careers that also use more
advanced algebra to predict the future.
Different companies can use these algebraic applications to predict their earnings
and outcomes of different experiences. In this case, the figures predict the total number of
audience members who will receive the messages from the advertisements. In the world
of business, the end goal is to have the greatest number of audience members reached; the
more people who are reached, the more products that will sell. Through different
outcomes, we can make an educated guess on how many ads will reach a certain amount
of people. Providing such figures can help the ad-makers on who to target and what
content to include.
There are many jobs in the market that use these types of applications to find and
predict their figures for the future. By getting a general idea of what and how much
money they will earn and/or spend they can plan accordingly to adjust their budgets.
There are so many different ways in which mathematics can be used outside of the
classroom. There just needs to be more tolerance towards numbers and less hostility to
doing arithmetic problems.
