Dear Parents,

For this Math course under Calvin Doudt, your child will be receiving a textbook purchased by MSDs
Middle School Department. To ensure that these books last for future classes, we will be following the
school librarys policy on lost and damaged books.
I will be keeping track of what book number your child is issued as well as the condition of the book
when it is handed out and returned in order to keep track our books condition. Students are completely
responsible for what happens to the book they are issued.
A book will be considered lost if it is not returned to the teacher on the collection date set by the teacher.
A fine for the cost to replace the book will be issued to the student. If a book is damaged, students will
need to pay a portion up to the full the cost of the book depending on the amount of damage.
A book is considered damaged if:

pages are torn and/or missing

there is writing or highlighting in the book

the spine is broken

the cover is torn and/or missing

there are food/liquid stains in/on the book

any other unreasonable damage not from regular wear and tear.

This policy has been reviewed with your student in class, but we also ask that you review it with your
student and remind them of the importance of taking care of school property.
As long as students return their books and care for them while the books are in their possession, there
should not be any reason for them to worry about fines related to their books.
Thank you so much for your support. Please let me know if you have any questions of concerns.
