    Alogicprobeisahandheldpenliketestprobeusedforanalyzingandtroubleshootingthelogicalstates(Boolean
    0or1)ofadigitalcircuit.Whilemostarepoweredbythecircuitundertest,somedevicesusebatteries.Theycan
    beusedoneitherTTL(transistortransistorlogic)orCMOS(complementarymetaloxidesemiconductor)
    integratedcircuitdevices.
    ThereareusuallythreedifferentlycoloredLEDsontheprobe'sbody:
    RedandgreenLEDsindicatehighandlowstatesrespectively
    AnamberLEDindicatesapulse(asusedinaNOIDLighttotestforpulsestofuelinjectorsonan
    electronicallycontrolledfuelinjectionvehicle)
    Thepulsedetectingelectronicsusuallyhasapulsestretchercircuitsothatevenveryshortpulsesbecomevisible
    ontheamberLED.Acontrolonthelogicprobeallowseitherthecaptureandstorageofasingleeventor
    continuousrunning.
    Whenthelogicprobeiseitherconnectedtoaninvalidlogiclevel(afaultconditionoratri
    statedoutput)ornotconnectedatall,noneoftheLEDslightup.
    AnothercontrolonthelogicprobeallowselectionofeitherTTLorCMOSfamilylogic.This
    isrequiredasthesefamilieshavedifferentthresholdsforthelogichigh(VIH)andlogiclow
    (VIL)circuitvoltages.
    Somelogicprobeshaveaseparateaudibletoneforeachofthelogicalstates.Anoscillating
    signalcausestheprobetoalternatebetweenhighstateandlowstatetones.

    Alogicprobeisacheap,versatileandconvenientdigitaltestinstrument,butcantestonlya
    singlesignalatatime.Whenmanylogiclevelsneedtobeobservedorrecordedsimultaneously,alogicanalyzeris
