Description and Overview: The High School World Cultures and Geography course is an elective. This course will
help students gain skills in using the conceptual tools of geography to empower critical thinking about the
complicated issues and themes of world regional geography as they interact with diversity amid globalization. The
course will span the areas of North America, Latin America, Sub-Saharan and North Africa, Europe and the Russian
Domain, as well as Southwest, Central, South, Southeast and East Asia, Australia and Oceania. The time frame will
focus on modern times but also reach into the past for contextual understanding of the issues at hand. Students will
utilize project-based learning and work collaboratively on most assignments.

Attendance:
Weekly and punctual attendance is expected and
necessary for student success.
Late Work Policy:
All assignments are expected to be turned in
on time to your on-site study group
Late penalty is 10% off when the
assignment is turned in 1 - 5 days
after the original due date. Then the
grade continues to drop by 10% each
school day until it reaches 50%.
Students are able to email, or come
on-site to submit work on
non-teaching days.
If the student is absent due to illness, they have
5 school days from the day they are absent to
turn in the work.

A note on plagiarism:
Plagiarism is a serious offense and will result
in the consequences as outlined in the TLC
Parent/Student Handbook and TLC Discipline
Policy.
ALL student work should be original. If
outside sources are used, they must be
properly cited in MLA format.
