C F S D Governing Board Meeting Annual Review of CFSD Policy CBA Qualifications and Duties of Superintendent (second reading) The governing board conducted the second reading of the CFSD policy related to the superintendents job description. During the first reading of this policy on August 9, the board recommended additional wording and minor revisions to the Leadership section and added language to the Public Relations section that outlines keeping the public informed, fostering cooperative working relationships and providing a high level of services to the community. The board approved the policy as presented.
Proposed New Policy IHAMC Instruction and
Training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (first reading) Associate Superintendent Mary Jo Conery presented the first reading of the districts new policy on Instruction and Training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Dr. Conery informed the board that this is new policy due to amended A.R.S. 15718.01 and A.R.S. 43-1089.01, related to school curricula. Legislation directs school districts and charter schools to offer mandatory instruction and training during high school no later than July 1, 2019.
Annual Review of CFSD Policy CBI Evaluation of
Superintendent (second reading) The governing board conducted the second reading the CFSD policy related to the boards process for evaluation of the superintendent. During the first reading of this policy on August 9, the board recommended no changes to the policy. The board approved the policy as presented.
The district plans to include this state requirement in
the CFSD Health and Wellness curriculum that is required of freshmen at the high school beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Board members asked for clarification on whether all high school students, not just freshman entering in 2017-2018, must be trained in CPR by July 1, 2019. This policy will be brought back to the board for a second reading at its next meeting on September 13.
Approval of Superintendents Proposed
Performance Goals for 2016-2017 Board President Eileen Jackson presented the second reading of the proposed performance goals. During the first reading, the board recommended revisions and added language to the Community Relations section providing clarification about the community relations plan to keep the community informed, market the district, and promote positive constituent relationships. The board members discussed minor formatting changes in the Community Relations section. The governing board approved the amended performance goals for the 2016-2017 school year. These goals are in addition to position responsibilities identified in CFSD Policy CBA Qualifications and Duties of Superintendent. The goals are related to the following areas: 1. Envision21: Deep Learning CFSD Strategic Plan 2014-2020 2. Human Resources 3. Arizona College and Career Ready Standards 4. Technology 5. Community Relations
Proposed Revisions to Policy IKF Graduation
Requirements (first reading) Dr. Conery presented the proposed revisions to the districts current policy. The revisions are additions based on A.R.S. 15-258 that establishes a State Seal of Biliteracy program and amended A.R.S. 15-718.01 and A.R.S. 43-1089.01 that direct school districts and charter schools to offer mandatory instruction and training in CPR at the high school level by July 2019. Dr. Conery provided information on the State Seal of Biliteracy that recognizes graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. Dr. Conery informed the board that the school district is voluntarily participating in the State Seal of Biliteracy program. This policy will be brought back to the board for a second reading at its next meeting on September 13. Consent Agenda Items The governing board approved the following consent agenda items.
