Famous Scientist Report and Presentation

The Famous Scientist Project involves a written report and an oral presentation
about a specific famous scientist. The goal of the Famous Scientist Project is to
encourage students awareness of historically important scientists and/or scientific
discoveries.
The project (the report and the presentation combined) is worth 50 points and due
WEDNESDAY 8/31. Presentations will be Wednesday and Thursday. Be ready to
present Wednesday (order of presenters will be random).
The Report:
Be sure to write the report in paragraph form and in complete sentences. The report
needs to be one page long and answer the following questions:

Who is your scientist? (3 points).


Where is he/she from and where did he/she grow up? Provide specific dates if
possible. What was his/her schooling or his/her work experience? (5 points)
What were his/her most significant scientific accomplishments? Why are
those accomplishments important? Provide specific dates if possible. (15
points)
Other interesting facts about your scientist. (2 points)

The Presentation:
Students need to present for two to three minutes about their famous scientist.
Students are encouraged to use a visual aid (a poster or a picture).

Effort (15 points)


Public-speaking skills (not reading directly from the report, making eye
contact with the audience, projection of voice, etc.) (5 points)
Content delivery (Did the audience learn something about your Famous
Scientist just from listening to your presentation?) (5 points)
