Reflection Questions on ELL Assignment

8/29/16
1.

What was the biggest challenge you faced while planning the lesson?
-I think the biggest challenge I faced was, having to recall the Spanish that I
learned in the past. I took Spanish for almost all of high school, but never was really
taught the language, so it was hard to pick my brain of all the stuff I actually
remembered.
2.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while teaching the lesson?
-Definitely being unorganized. I dont think that we were all able to work in
unison of one another too well and it hurt us in the long run.
3.
What did you rely on the most during your instruction to overcome these
challenges?
-I think I relied on the cue cards that were on the table too much. We all should
have laid out a plan to make sure it went smoothly instead of relied on our activity.
4.
Was communication with your students easier or more difficult than you originally
thought?
-It was a lot more difficult to talk to the students in a language that was foreign for
the both of us.
5.
Do you feel you used co-teaching as effectively as you could have?
-I think that our co-teaching was a disaster because there wasnt really that much
cooperation. For parts of the group it was a my way or highway attitude which led to
half of the lesson being done a different way than was agreed upon.
6.
Do you feel you achieved your objective? How can you be sure you did or didnt?
-I know we did not successfully achieve our objective because we wound up
being so unorganized that we never even got the chance to teach anything.
7.
As a student of other groups lessons, what was the biggest challenge you faced?
-The biggest challenge I faced while playing the student was not understanding
what the teachers were saying. Even if I knew pieces of the language I had to think back
to what I remembered and wound up missing pieces of the lesson anyway.
