Visualizing Vocabulary

Chapter 2, Section 1 and 2


The word visualize means to form a picture in your mind. Visualizing can help you when you
read. Sometimes you can form a mental picture of an event or character in a story to help you
remember the story better. You can do the same thing with vocabulary words. Creating a picture
to help you remember the meaning of a word is visualizing. Complete the following chart for the
key terms in Chapter 2, Section 2. The words are in bold so you can record the sentence in which
they are found in the textbook. All pictures must be hand-drawn and must be easy to identify
with the word.
