One of the most persistent problems faced across the centuries is violence committed in the name

of religion. From Islamic Jihads to Indian Thuggee murders, whether it was the intent or not,
religion has driven people beyond human actions mostly for the worse. The majority of religions
have encouraged us to go to buildings and monuments to worship stone idols instead of preaching
courtesy and civility.
An interesting idea is a state which is non-secular in nature in the sense that it is devoid of all
religion. This would be a country built purely on logic and advancement. In schools, instead of
learning about the origin of different religions, we would learn about current world affairs and new
and exciting scientific discoveries. Instead of celebrating days like Diwali and Dussehra by
destroying the environment beyond repair, we would celebrate days like September 2, the end of
World War II by planting a tree. This country wont have huge statues of gods by side of the road
but instead a few benches as a resting place for passing travellers. Instead of praying for
somebody, we would actually go help them. Instead of being content with their lives, we would
strive to do better everyday.
In this country, people should be able to enter and leave as they please on the condition that while
they are inside the country, they must not follow or propagate a religion. While this country will ban
religions being followed, there should be no law against trying to logically prove the existence of a
higher power.
I am not writing this article as to say that there should be country like this one. I am only writing it to
provoke thought on this matter.
