Bonds of 10 Puzzles
1. Print on card stock or print on paper and laminate after you
have cut all the puzzles pieces apart.
2. Cut out the blocks.
3. Cut along the dotted lines creating puzzle pieces.
4. Cut out the pocket. Fold the sides over. Cut a slit in the
front flap. Insert the top flap into the bottom flap to close.
To Play:
1. Let the child place unifix (Maths counters) blocks on top of
every number. This will be the concrete operation working
with groups of blocks.
2. Match the puzzle pieces using the shapes to guide. Use the
Maths unifix blocks and place the same number blocks above
the puzzle pieces. Do this several times until the child
recognizes the matching numbers.
3. Let the child first match all the pieces, and then remove all
the right side pieces except the two 5s. Now let the child
match the correct number bonds without the shapes
matching! Repeat stage 1 or 2 if they are not sure of the
concept.
4. Now the child can practice bonds of 10 on worksheets. (Use
the bonds 10 Maths Rockets or Amazing Maths Squares
from Practicalpages.wordpress.com)
