Reflection
ThissharedvisionwasdevelopedfortheITEC7410InstructionalTechnology
Leadershipcourseduringthespringof2016.Idesignedandadministeredastakeholdersurveyto
determinethecurrentleveloftechnologyintegrationwithinaprivateelementaryschool.Iused
thesesurveyresultstodevelopaschoolwidevisionfortechnologyintegrationthatincluded
researchbasedstrategiestoaddresstheuniqueneedsoflearnersinagloballyconnectedand
rapidlychangingworld.
Thefacilitationofthesharedvisionstartedwiththedesignandadministrationofthe
stakeholdersurveyforeducatorsandadministratorsthatdeterminedthecurrentlevelof
technologyintegrationbygatheringanonymousfeedbackviaonlinedistribution.Thiswasa
criticalfirststepintheestablishmentofastartingpointinthedevelopmentofthesharedvision.
Theinputfromstakeholdersallowedmetosetattainablevisionarygoalsthatwerepersonalized
accordingtotheuniqueneedsofthestakeholdersandtheschoolitself.Thisartifactdemonstrates
myabilitytofacilitatethedevelopmentofasharedvision.Throughmyconstructionofashared
visionwiththeinputofthestakeholders,theresultwastimelyyetcapableofgrowingwiththe
schoolovertimeastheyimproved.

Ifacilitatedtheimplementationofthesharedvisionthroughmyworkwiththedatateam
inthetrackingofgoalprogressthroughouttheremainderoftheschoolyear.Ialsoworkedwith
stakeholderswithinprofessionaldevelopmentopportunitiestoguidethemintrackingand
assessingtheirprogresstowardstheschoolssharedvisionfortechnologyintegration.The
continuedtracking,evaluating,andassessingoftheschoolsprogressinmeetingandexceeding
thevisionremainsthekeytoensuringitsfuturesuccess.
Implementationofthesharedvisionasavolunteerfacilitatorratherthanapaidmember
ofthestaffrequiredthatIremainespeciallypatient,flexible,andresourcefulasIguidedthe
facilitationprocess.Theschoolvisionwasaregularpartofthedailyexperiencesofthe
stakeholders,andthesharedvisioncoincidedwiththeschoolimprovementgoals.Professional
developmentsutilizedthesharedvisionasatoolinthedesignprocess.Theconsiderationof
stakeholderopinionsgaveeveryoneownershipinthesharedvisionandgreatlyimprovedthe
levelofsuccessbecauseitinformedtheimprovementprocess.
Thesharedvisiondirectlyimpactedthesuccessoffacultydevelopment,aswellasthe
relevanceandprogressofstudentlearning.Theimpactwasalsoobservedthroughtheimproved
levelofcomfortthatthestakeholdershadwiththevisionitselfbecausetheyhadshared
ownershipinitsdevelopment.Studentsweredirectlyaffectedinapositivemannerbecausetheir
learningexperienceswereimprovedbytheresearchbasedstrategiescontainedinthevision.
Informalobservations,anendoftheyearsurvey,SIPgoaltracking,anddataanalysiswereused
toassesstheimpactofthesharedvision.Thesharedownershipinthevisionaryprocessdirectly
increasedthepositiveoutcomesfortheentireschool.
