He Had Such Quite Eyes by Bibsy Soenharjo

He had such quiet eyes

Lelaki itu memiliki sepasang mata yang sepi

She did not realise

Gadis itu tidak menyedari

They were two pools of lies

Bahawa mereka berdua tenggelam dalam pembohongan

Layered with thinnest ice

dilapisi oleh ais yang nipis

To her, those quiet eyes

bagi si gadis, sepasang mata sepi itu

Were breathing desolate sighs

keluhan gundah haih..

Imploring her to be nice

merayunya untuk menjadi baik

And to render him paradise

dan mempersembahkannya syurga

In the first stanza, the persona explains how the girl is blinded by the guys personality.
The girl had been lied by the guys eyes and surrendered her heart and soul to the guy.

If only shed been wise

hanya sekiranya dia bijak

And had listened to the advice

dan mendengar nasihat

Never to compromise

tidak pernah berkompromi

With pleasure-seeking guys

kegembiraan dalam mendapatkan lelaki

Shed be free from the hows and whys

dia bebas daripada alasan bagaimana

dan mengapa

The second stanza tells the possibility if the girl had only been clever to think and listen
to the advice that may had been given from her family or friends and not to easily fall for
men who are only searching for pleasure in women.

Now heres a bit of advice

di sini ada sedikit nasihat

Be sure that nice really nice

pastikan yang baik itu benar-benar baik

Then youll never be losing at dice kamu tidak akan pernah tewas dalam percaturan
Though you lose your heart once or twice

meskipun kamu kecewa lebih dari sekali

In the last stanza, the persona includes an advice for women to be sure whether the
man is sincere or just playing with words in a relationship. In this stanza, life is referred
to as a dice that we may lose or win at the same time.
