Speech Project: Personal Speech Plan

Title: Five Times Frustrated, Five Times Loved
Time: 3-5 minutes
Specific Speech Purpose: To introduce myself to the audience by sharing a story
of a personal experience.
Thesis Statement: Being Ate in a big family carries a lot of expectations, has its
ups and downs but its the luckiest thing in my life because of the siblings love for
me.
I.

Introduction
A. Attention Step:
"Ate" is one of the words I find very closely associated to me. For most
of my life, I have been called that by my younger siblings. Although given the
chance, many would prefer to be born youngest since they have all the
privileges, I quite like my position as the second eldest.
B. Clarification Step:
Today, let me tell you why.

II.

Body
A. A big family is something that would not be considered practical in the
current society that we live in today.
1. There will be more expenses to think about.
2. The home will be in a constant state of unrest, especially if there
are young children running around all over the place.
B. I come from exactly this type of family.
1. I have one older brother.
2. I have 4 younger sisters.
C. Being the eldest girl puts a lot of pressure.
1. You are expected to be a "role model" for the younger ones.
2. You are more often blamed for their mischief, even if you had
absolutely nothing to do with it.

D. I believe that I have already established my authority and identity in

the house as the eldest sister.
1. My very adoring sisters never fail to do exactly the things that
annoy me the most intentionally.
2. They gave the nickname "Shiva," from the Hindu God Shiva the
Destroyer, since they claim that all I do is destroy things at
home. (which is partly true. You see I receive much love)
E. Although there are some downsides to it, being born first also has its
perks.
1. It is interesting to see my younger siblings slowly grow.
2. I get to watch them fight and argue.
III.

Conclusion
As you can see, my life as the eldest sister is very interesting. Even though
my sibling and I enjoy this kind of relationship, I am sure to be there for them
when it counts. I can take all the hardships and the tight budget, but my siblings,
I would not miss them for the world. There are tough times, but even with all
that, I still feel lucky, because I'm five times loved.
Well everyone, I hope you enjoyed the story. Thank you so much for listening.
