WHY DO YOU NEED TO WRITE A LIFE PLAN?

Why Do You Need to Write a Life Plan?

If you could be anything in this world. What would you like to be? Well, you can
be anything you want with a little hard work and a life plan. Nowadays, most people
spend their time without a goal. They live of this way from week to week for many years.
Then, they are surprised when their life is not how they hoped. Likely, you know
something that you want to achieve, but you could not know how to do it. With a life
plan, you can decide what things are more or less important to carry out your goals. It is
important because you could say no to those things that import less. That is why you
have to consider that you should make a life plan in order to achieve goals and dreams.
With a life plan, you will find your most important priorities, who you are and
what you want. Most important benefit of beginning to write a life plan is that when you
write it, you have to ask yourself many questions. Questions like What is important for
me?, What do I like or dislike?, Where do I have abilities and disadvantages for
achieving my goal? So, that is the right way to know yourself and what you want for
your life. Also, when you develop these questions, for consequence, you develop your
self-esteem because you know who you are. This fact would seem unimportant, but with
this first step you will be able for achieving your goals and dreams. A good self-esteem
helps you to accomplish all that you want (Crocker, 2004). Although, you establish
specific priorities, these priorities need to keep in mind each aspect of your life and how
to carry out them at the same time.
When you have different priorities that you want to develop it at the same time, a
life plan is perfect for this. A life plan will allow you to maintain balance because you

could plan your time, to know in what goal you are not work, and where you need to
improve. That is very important because, for example, some people sacrifice their
relationship for their children, their marriage for their career, some students sacrifice their
health for their career. However, you have to understand that you can have a good health,
successful career, and wonderful marriage. You can have all, but you need to plan it. Not
only will a life plan help you maintain balance, but help alleviate Social problems.
(Philipsen, 2008)
Social problems decrease as more people has a life plan. Many social problems
can be solved with a life plan. For example, overpopulation is a big problem that affect
us, and is a consequence of the lack of reproductive life plan. Overpopulation has like
results poverty and hungry because if in a family grow the number of children, this family
have to divide their income (Malnory, 2010). For avoiding this, they should plan how
many children they can have according to their economic sources (Carol, 2004). A strict
solution that China implanted was a family planning policy in 1978, this policy still is
active but it has had changes for the stress that generated in their population (Embassy of
China in Lithuania, 1995). That is why, is better people have to make a life plan without
a policy. Also, as a result of the lack of planning and knowing is abortion in the most of
pregnant teens (Burns,1983). Teenagers should have major interest in to make a life plan.
Although, a life plan in the aspect reproductive has a significant factor, there are many
aspects.
A life plan could avoid other social problem like eating disorder because you
can make a life plan where you check and improve your habits and exercises. A social
problem that we could avoid is obesity. In America, it has had an alarming increase, for
that reason many states has campaigns for learning how to plan your life (NYS
Department of Health, 2010). In addition, alcohol and drugs have made havoc with young

without a life plan for guiding their lives. A social problem like suicide has been action
of people without goals and dreams, so they do not have things for living (Boergers,
1998).
For this time, if you have considered to make a life plan. You need to know that
it is as important as achieve your life plan. Some people say that a life plan could be bad
because if you do not achieve it, you will be disappointed with your life. However, if you
had a life plan, you have followed serial steps for achieving it. Although, you did not
carry out your goal. With each step that you made, you have grown with new abilities.
Having new abilities and knowledge never is bad for you.
Finally, a life plan is a good way to improve yourself in any aspect of your life.
From maintain balance in different priorities, look for what you want until contribute to
decrease Social problems. Most important, you have a guide for developing all you want.
I am sure that you would not like to wake up one day, and discover that your life is not
like you dreamed it. So, in order to achieve your goals and dreams, we should all develop
realistic and meaningful life plans.
