As the enclosed status report indicates, we have made significant progress since the communication packets were approved by NIOSH on September 8, 2008. | should have intervened long before the situation reached this point, and had ! known the road we were on, | certainly would have. (LH). We have enclosed a member ID card that you should use when you receive healthcare in the West ‘Trade Genter (WTC) National Responder Health Program. The Program provides services for workers and volunteers who came to New York City to help with rescue, recovery and clean-up efforts at the WTC site, For the last si years, some WTC responders have experienced physical and mental health problems linked to their WTC work. That is why a federally-funded health program was created to monitor and treat health Conditions of WTC responders that are associated with exposures at the WTC site. The majority of responders live in the New York Cty metropolitan area, and they are served by a group of Clinical Centers in that area. The National Program serves responders from across the country ‘As background information, the National Program was previously conducted by the Mount Sinai Schoo! of Medicine (MSSM) and the Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics (AOEC) for responders who were not employed by the Federal government. MSSM offered monitoring exams, and AOEC arranged for treatment. Under a separate program, federal workers were offered screening examinations through Federal Occupational Health Services. in June 2008, a contract was begun with LHI to continue providing both ‘monitoring and treatment under one combined program.
