DEOXID-140 - abe Revkiny 7 SCOPE ae DEOXID-140 is a blend of phosphoric & mixed inorganic acids derusting composition formulated, duly inhibited for low metal attack, to remove rust and oxide layer from the iron surfaces. This process is used by immersion only. BATH CONCENTRAION & OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS. DEOXID-140 is used at 20-30% concentration (v/v), in a tank suitably lined containing, water. The components are treated in the bath solution at temperature 40-50°C for 8-15 minutes depending upon the oxide and rust layer to be removed from the metal surface. TESTING & CONTROL The concentration of the chemical of DEOXID-140 bath is controlled by a simple volumetric titration of the bath solution for acid strength and Iron content. Acid strength is determined as follows 4) 10 ml of the bath sample is diluted with 90 mis of Distilled water in a measuring flask.10 ml of the diluted solution is titrated against N/10 Sodium Hydroxide using Methyl Orange indicator. The change of colour from pink to yellow is the end point. The quantity of N/10 Sodium Hydroxide used in the titration represents the pointage ‘of DEOXID 140 which at 20% concentration will give pointage 18-22 mls. For every one point lacking addition of 12.0 Kgs of DEOXID-140 per 1000 Itrs bath is added. The iron content of the bath solution is determined as under b) 10 ml bath solution is mixed with 10 ml of 50% Sulphuric acid and is titrated with titrated with N/10 Potassium Permanganate solution. No. of mls used to achieve the end point -colourless to pink represents the pointage. The iron percentage is calculated as No, of mls. consumed multiplied by 0.056. The recommended maximum permissible limit of iron Contents is 7% . Further increase the iron contents will reduce the efficiency of derusting drastically , hence advised for fresh bath preparation . EQUIPMENT. DEOXID -140 is used in a mild steel tank duly lined with lead, FRP or PVC/Rubber tanks KRISFINE-Z is conditioning rinse additive formulated with a complexing agent to ‘compensate for water hardness. It is used to activate steel and zine coated stee! prior to zinc phosfating. It eliminates the course, crystalline coatings sometimes obtained on zine surfaces and on steel surfaces which have been pickled with acid or cleaned with strong alkali, It promotes the formation of a dense, finely crystalline phosphate coating which is the preferred base for paint and which has superior corrosion resistance. BATH MAKE-UP Use 2.0 Kg of KRISFINE-Z per 1000 liters of bath. Disperse it in deionised water before adding to the bath BATH CONTROL POINTS Temperature : Ambient Dip Time : 1-15 minutes pH of working cone. 8.5-9.5 Titration 2 7.0-12 mls (for 100 ml) Titanium : Presence Indicated BATH CONTROL Titration: ‘Measure 100 mis of the bath solution into a flask. Add 5 drops of methyl orange indicator and titrate with 0.1N sulfuric acid until color change from yellow to red is obtained. ‘The number of mls of 0.11N sulfuric acid used is the pointage. TITANIUM PRESENCE To 30 mls of bath solution, add 5 ml of concentrated sulfurie acid & 5 ml of Phosphoric acid followed by 5 ml of (30%) hydrogen peroxide. If titanium is present, a yellow color will result. Two samples should be prepared from the bath , one from filtered liquid and other from liquid taken from the tank. These give levels of effective and total titanium: respectively. MAINTAINING LEVEL For best results the tank should be over flowed continuously. ‘The replenisher tank should be completely emptied every 4-8 hrs. ‘The replenisher tank should be stirred at al times. EQUIPMENT ‘The KRISFINE-Z rinse should be constructed of stainless steel or lined mild steel. ‘The replenisher tank should be similarly constructed, although for this tank, plastic is also suitable. HAZARD AND HANDLING PRECAUTIONS, KRISFINE-Z is a mildly alkaline liquid. Avoid breathing dust, wear rubber or PVC gloves when handling the liquid. Wash away any spills with plenty of water. FURTHER INFORMATION Users must satisfy themselves that there are no circumstances requiring additional information or safety precautions relating to details given herein and must not practise or use any patented invention or trademark without prior approval. KRISPAS-NC a “Peuivetsen £ TK SCOPE KRISPAS-NC is used in the final rinse after pretreatment either by immersion or spray process. KRISPAS-NC eliminates contaminants from the pretreated metal surface and thereby increases corrosion resistance and paint adhesion. Also counteracts the effects of hard water salts and acidifies the surface before painting. It thus reduces the risk of blistering under humid conditions. BATH CONCENTRATION ANI RATIONAL PARAMETER: KRISPAS-NC is used at 0.025-0.05% concentration (v/v), in a tank containing D.M. Water. The operating temperature is 70°-80°C also operative at room temperature and time varies between 30-60 sec. pH is maintained between 4.5-5.5. BATH MAINTENANCE If soluble salts carried over from previous rinses are allowed to accumulate, the PASSIVATE solution will deteriorate rapidly. It should therefore be made up a fresh regularly. Check the pH of rinse periodically, using universal pH paper. If it is over 5.5 add more KRISPAS; if it is below 4.5 discard part of the rinse and replenish with fresh water. TESTING AND CONTROL The bath is controlled by regular check of the pH. The pH should remain in the specified range and should not be allowed to drop or exceed much above the specified values. ‘TEST FOR CHROME PRESENCE: 10 ml bath sample + 50 mi distilled water. Then, add 20 ml 50 % Sulfuric acid solution. Now, add Ig of Potassium iodide and 1 ml of freshly prepared starch solution. There is occurrence of brownish yellow color, if chrome ions are present. No occurrence of the color indicates the absence of chrome ions. ® KRISBOND-LT = Phosphoters - SCOPE KRISBOND-LT is a Nickel, Manganese modified Zine phosphate process operative at low temperature designed to treat steel surfaces for smooth, uniform Zine phosphate coating. The process is used by dip application. KRISBOND-LT coating is compatible which all types of organic finishes.
