INTERVENES ON THE POINT OF INTERSECTION

Analysis: (Guide Questions)

1. Did you incur error in this fieldwork? If so, what are the sources of this error?
This fieldwork is quite easy to accomplish. However, we still had an error because we
placed the total station in the concrete part of the field for there is no more space and
because we just let it sat there while waiting for the instructor to check our work. The
concrete made the total station move a little bit when there is wind and letting it sat there
made it move more while we are waiting. Also, maybe if a wind came by, maybe the
instrument may have fell down and will cost so much. Another problem that we had is that
our 5th station exceeded the trapezoid which is also the tangent line. This is because of
minor miscalculations and approximations, and simple human errors.
2. Can you minimize or avoid the same error for the next fieldwork? How?
Yes, by ensuring that we land our total station in the soil part, and not in the concrete. Also,
next time, well make sure that we never let our eyes be not looking at the instrument. Next
time, well also try to be more accurate in measuring and plotting our points.
3. Were you involved in performing this fieldwork? What was your part?
Yes, all of us did almost all the possible part of this experiment. I did the measuring, the
holding of the prism, the reading and interpretation of the values and the setting up of the
equipment. All of us got a round robin role for us to maximize the experience of this
experiment.
Remarks, Hints and Precautions: (You may include criticisms about the instruments,
difficulties encountered in the field, suggestions to improve the field procedure, etc.)

This experiment is easy to do. The use of total stations made our work a lot easier.
However, one should always remember to put your instrument in the soil part of the field
and never let your eyes be not looking at it because the wind might cause discrepancies and
the instrument might fall on the ground. I suggest that other people who will do this
experiment to be precise and accurate in reading the values. You should not approximate or
take a guess in finding the stations. Also, to improve the fieldwork, I suggest smaller curves
or larger area to work in. Because its very hard to work when well be overlapping our
curves with the other groups.
