As we know, the transportation sector is one of the vital and important

component of the economy and common tool used for development because
of its intensive use of infrastructures. So, in a global economy where
economic development have been increasingly related to the mobility of
people, goods and information. Furthermore, efficient transportation reduces
costs in many economic sectors, while inefficient transportation increases
these costs. In otherwise, the transportation growth sector can cause
negative effect.
The number of vehicles has increased considerably in British Road for over
12 years from 1988 to 2000, which is one of the source of pollution in the air.
This situation not only happen in British but also in other country such as
Indonesia. The Ministry of Transportation on behalf Indonesian Government
has already take action such as, improving public and mass transport to
reduce people using vehicles, give subsidiary for people using public
transport, involving another ministries and local government on analyzing
bottlenecks and find ways to improve it. For instance, the strategy on Jakarta
Province restrict people using car on Sunday or well known as car free day
that have been implemented in big cities in Indonesia.
All in all, transportation sector is one of the vital role in a country because of
its intensive use of infrastructures. Otherwise, increased used of vehicles
caused problem. The government in over the world should introducing
strong law or policy, encourage alternative solution and form of
transportation in order to control vehicles number that caused air pollution
in roads.
