Reflection

Context: The two artifacts that I used for these portion of my portfolio
come from two different classes. The first come from my actual experience
of working with the students at Cedaroak Park Primary School during my
practicum (ED 270) during the winter of 2016. The second came from my
multicultural principles class (ED 258).
Connect: In the teaching profession I will come across individuals who
have different beliefs, views, and backgrounds than I do. It is my job to
make sure that they have a proper education. I will always model inclusive
behavior. I will build up home and community experiences to advance
concepts in my classes. I will always keep communication lines open, and
when I am not teaching the class I will promote an open door policy. I will
make it a habit to know students name, and never exclude anybody from a
discussion that I have in my classroom. Finally, I will constantly listen to
what the student has to say because every voice in my classroom should be
heard.
Contemplation: I thought that this class taught me a lot of how we need as
educators, and students to respect each other no matter what our views of
the world are to us. We all have a different perspective on life, and we need
to be able to express that in our classrooms, and not to be afraid of being
different. On the whole, the class really opened my eyes to what I need to
expect as a teacher, and how I can promote growth in my classrooms.
