In Code of hummurabi ancient babylonia and burgundian code
from early medieval Europe there are several similar things and has difference in procedure and different punishments. These two codes of conduct were modeled after each other but the burgundian code had to be little more humane with its ways of punishment. In both cases they have no tolerance policy with murder. I believe that the burgundian code got its basic concept frpm the Code of Hammurabi but made some changes to fit the style of life in those days. There was also a part in the code of Hammurabi that said if you were found guilty of witchcraft you were to be thrown into the river and if you drowned then you were a witch if you didnt you werent. If you didnt drownthen the person who accused you was to be put to death. There was nothing along those lines in the burgundian code. Burgundian code was set up like things are today with most crimes being punishable with hefty fine. Perfect example of this would be false testimony. In the code of Hammurabi, if you physically hurt a women, instant death.
If I had to choose these codes to live under I would choose the
burgundian code. It is more humans than the code of hummarabi and you have a better chance of living to the age of twenty. The main reason for my choice is that in the Code of hummurabo, they wouldnt look to into what happened. The burgundian code is also run like our own system of laws. Only murder is punishable by death Then most crimes just come with a hefty fine. The burgundian code is modeled after the code of hummarabi but with major difference in style punishment. So these are reasons I would choose to live under the burgundian code of hummarabi.
