7 FOAM FOR LPG FIRES

Foam is not recommended for use in fighting LPG Fires. In general, Fire-fighting
foams that are effective against common hydrocarbon liquid spill Fires are inef
fective against LPG Fires. LPG Fires are typically pressurized jet Fires. For a
larger LPG pool Fire, the effective use of foam is questionable
because the applied foam is a source of heat and promotes LPG vaporization from
the refrigerated pool (See 8.6 in API Standard 2510)
