INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Molding is a kind of process in manufacturing industry wherein a rigid
frame called mold or matrix is used to shape liquid or pliable raw material
to obtain the desired object.
Molding is the process of manufacturing by shaping liquid or pliable raw
material using a rigid frame called a mold or matrix. This itself may have
been made using a pattern or model of the final object.
A mold or mould is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid or pliable
material like plastic, glass, metal, or ceramic raw materials. The liquid
hardens or sets inside the mold, adopting its shape. A mold is the
counterpart to a cast. The very common bi-valve molding process uses two
molds, one for each half of the object. Piece-molding uses a number of
different molds, each creating a section of a complicated object. This is
generally only used for larger and more valuable objects.
The manufacturer who makes the molds is called the moldmaker. A release
agent is typically used to make removal of the hardened/set substance from
the mold easier. Typical uses for molded plastics include molded furniture,
molded household goods, molded cases, and structural materials.

Fabrication has a great deal to do with manufacturing. Fabrication is an

industrial term that refers to the manipulation of raw materials (such as
steel) for the making of machines and structures. Steel and other metals are
cut and shaped during the fabrication process. Fabrication is a very handson part of the manufacturing process. Although a fabrication shop and a
manufacturing plant can work independently, it is unlikely that you will find
a manufacturing establishment that does not at least have close ties to a
fabrication shop. Most manufacturers have fabricators in-house simply
because of the frequency that most manufacturing processes need the
services of a fabrication shop.
Typical projects for fabricators include making structural frames for
buildings and other heavy equipment. Fabrication shops will also make
loose parts. Fabricators are often vital in the initial stages of building up a
manufacturing plant. Their services are needed to build the parts of a
