I have studied the camera shots featured within Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey
and Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith, both of which are similar in
genre to Devil Side by Foxes.

Lana Del Rey Blue Jeans

One of the initial shots within the video is
an establishing wide shot. This is used to
set the scene and give the audience
more of a background to the video and
furthermore, the song. Ultimately, this
allows for a greater understanding from
the audience.

Throughout the video, there are frequent

close-up and extreme close-up shots. In
placing focus upon the main character,
particularly when it is the artists
themselves, there is a more personal
connection being made to the character.
The audience is then able to relate more
to the artist.
Following on from these shots, the angle
of the camera is often canted, which
helps to engage the audience more as
they have more to understand within the
scene.

Further on in the video, a low P.O.V. shot

shows the artist walking towards the
camera; this is a merge of two shot
types. The P.O.V. gives the audience
more of a sense of inclusion within the
video, making it more realistic. The low
angle suggests a kind of superiority and
importance.

At the end of the music video, there is a
collection of birds-eye shots showing
the final scene. From this angle the
audience sees a completely different
view, showing everything within one
frame.

At the very beginning of this music video,

there are close-ups of the artist. This
identifies the main character within the
video and their story is paired with the
lyrics.

There is also a repeated over-the-shoulder shot where the artist is looking into a
mirror. This allows for the audience to identify with the artist on a more personal
level.

Later on in the video shows both high and low angled shots. The high angle shot
shows inferiority whereas the low angle shot shows the opposite of superiority.
This suggests the status and importance of the characters within the video and
reinforces the message behind the lyrics of the song.

For this scene, a master shot is used to establish the situation between the two
characters. This means that the audience can piece together later shots of
close-ups and distorted angles.

Towards the end of the video, there are some final wide shots. These terminate
the details if the video and leave the audience with the end result of the song.
