Solution
Given values:
Number of moles= 1.2 moles; initial temperature= 18 0C; initial Pressure=
1.05 bar; final temperature=310 0C; Cv,m =3.3R
Part A) Initial volume of gas.

P = 1.05 bar = 1.0363 atm

The volume of the gas is given by:
V = nRT/P
= 1.2 x 0.08205 x (273 + 18)/1.036
= 27.66L
= 0.02766 m^3

Part B) final volume of gas,

V1/T1 = V2/T2; at constant preasure
Making V2 the subject of the formula we have:
V2=V1/T1*T2

V2 = 0.02766 x 18/310 = 0.0016060645161 m^3

Part C) Work done in isobaric compression
w = P(V2-V1)
= 1.0363 x (1.6 27.66) x 101.33
= -2.737 kJ
Part D) Change in internal energy
dU = Cv(T2 -T1)
= 3.3 x 8.314 x (310 - 18)
= 8.011 kJ

Part E) Heat change for the reaction,

Heat change of the reaction= work done in isobaric compression+change in internal energy
q = -2.737 + 8.011 = 5.274 kJ
