For the past two years some of us active and retired postal workers and our allies in the community have been leafleting outside Staples stores across the country from Boston to San Francisco. We have noticed posters popping up in the stores with you as spokesperson for Staples Back to School promotions. It seems like a worthy cause — Money for scholarships. However you may not be aware of the dirty deal into which Staples has been enticed by senior management at the US Postal Service. The USPS is offering Staples a huge discount on postal products and in return Staples is opening up fake post offices in their stores. Besides the fact that the American people are entitled to trained postal workers handling their mail, this is a blatant attempt by postal management to transfer good union jobs at the Post Office into low- paid Staples associate jobs. ‘As union member yourself, | ask you to give serious consideration to rai participating in this union-busting activity.
