Programming has always been frowned upon as a lesser
science in the Filipino Community. We wanted to change that. -Franz Louis Cesista. Co-Founder of ECHO. Set as a means to further educate society on the extensive field of computer science, students Franz Cesista, Simon Garnace, Sean Sta. Maria, & Royce Yan, alongside advisers Sir Von Alano and Sir Jesse Estoque, founded the schools foremost computer programming varsity ECHO. According to the students, computer science has been a field of study mistakenly dubbed for Photoshop or computer games and creating documents using Microsoft Word. With the creation of the club, standing as a product of the SCALE program Senior High PSHS-EVC students have to launch, they aim to remove this long-standing prejudice and introduce programming in a whole new light. The varsity recruited its members on the week of September 13-17, 2016 through an entrance exam that focused on logical and analytical problem solving which is what competitive programming is focused on contrary to popular belief. Intellectual discussions, engaging training sessions, competitiveness in numerous programming events are expected to spring forth from the recruits of the club as they hope to continue the pursuit of excellence within the field of computer science.
