Sand casting processes

1. Fabricating core boxes: before doing anything a box is needed

to be fabricated, in which the mould would be placed and
the casting will take place. Box is generally made out of
wood
2. Fabricate pattern: the pattern of which the piece would take
shape of is put in the core box and is then removed after the
sand has taken over.
3. Mold core: it is used in casting and moulding process to
produce internal cavity. Most commonly used in sand
casting.
4. Prepare sand: the size and distribution of the sand is
extremely important in controlling the surface finish of the
casting. This preparation decides how the finished product
would look like.
5. Build mold: a mould is supposed to be built before casting.
The mold is generally made out of wooden pieces in which
the casting takes place.
6. Break out raw casting: the excess casting is removed so that
the only final piece is taken out from the mold.
7. Degate & clean inspection: before the casting takes place a
inspection is required for assurance that everything is in
order and everything is supposed to be the way it is.
8. Melting metal: melting of metal takes place in a furnace. Its a
process in which the metal which will be poured in the
casting is melted
9. Pour casting: the metal is poured in the cast. Pour method is a
good choice for general casting process because of its
flexibility.
10.
Solidification and cooling: once the molten metal has been
poured into the casting just wait for it to solidify and coal
down. So that it can itself in the casting.

11.
Finished casting: once all the above steps have taken
place its finally the time to take out the finished piece from
the mold and trim extra unwanted metal pieces.

Forging
There are different types of forging process open die forging,
drop forging. A part can be forged by pressing, pounding or
squeezing it under great pressure. The process is normally
performed not by pressing not by preheating the metal to a
desired temperature before it is worked. In this process metal is
never melted. Forging can make any part more stronger by any
other metal working process
