penis equipped with a sperm pump
o Migrates to the seminal receptacle
Stimulates ovoposition (egg laying preference)
o Stimulated by the transplantation of the accessory glands from males
to female flies

Occurs in the uterus

Egg activation
The micropyle becomes opposed to the opening of a duct that transforms
sperm cells from the seminal receptacle
o Necessary amount of sperm is inserted into the mature egg
o Single copulation is enough to give the female fly enough sperm for
their whole life
The egg continues to the vulva and get laid
The paternal mitochondria is destroyed
o Sperm axoneme is separated
o Mitochondria is from the mother
Identification of the body axis
o Anterior where the sperm entered
o Posterior opposite side
Cytoplasmic dislocation
o Occurs while the oocyte is completing the second meiotic division
Sperm nucleus decondenses to form chromosomes
o Both nuclei undergoes an S phase
o Fuse to form the zygote
