great collections of Minnesotans, enriched the civic life of
every corner of our state?
Going forward, why is his principled yet keenly openminded and innovative style of leadership more important
than ever? Hear what a few of his legions of colleagues and
admirers have to say as well as what Tom himself thinks
about it all.

In addition to being a distinguished economist


and path-breaking legislator, John Brandl was a
passionate and successful bridge builder. After his
death in 2008, leaders of several disparate Minnesota
organizations created an annual forum in celebration
of his embracing legacy.
