It is a set of rules that helps to connect two devices and transmit data with each other. Protocols
can determine how the data are travel along the computer devices and other network devices.
The data protocol can determine the errors and bugs of the data compression method. And also it
can use for the error control also.
Among the most common Internet protocols are FTP (File Transfer Protocol), HTTP (Hypertext
Transfer Protocol), TCP/IP (Transfer Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), and SMTP (Simple
Mail Transfer Protocol).
File transfer protocol
File transfer protocol is can be considered as the standard internet protocol for transmitting files
between the computers and over the networks. Mainly file transfer protocol is a client server
protocol that communicates data through client and the server. In the file transfer protocol has a
command channel for controlling the conversion and the a data channel for transmitting the file
content.
Hypertext Transfer Protocol
This protocol is mainly used by the World Wide Web. Mainly HTTP determines how the
messages are transmitted and formatted, and also can determine how web servers and browsers
take actions to various types of commands. HTTP also known as the stateless protocol because
its executed independently, without any knowledge of the commands that came before it.
Importance of protocols
Mainly communication protocol communicates between devices and protocols in general are
happen. There are many of importance in the protocols. The following are some main importance
of protocols,
Authentication messages
Error checking
Mainly protocols helps to send and receive files and documents from computers to computers or
networks to networks. If either of the two computers did not understand this protocol then users
would not be able to send and receive files because the computer would not know the "language"
and so sending a file would be impossible. SMTP/POP3 (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol & Post
Office Protocol) SMTP and POP3 is the protocol for sending E-mails SMTP allows users to send
emails, and its usually POP3 that allows users to receive them.
