Hi there Thomasians!!!
Having read the lessons on the National Service Training Programs
background and distinctive Thomasian values, you should now have a better
understanding as to why you are taking up this course. More than being a
mandated requirement, this course would prepare you to become a more
socially responsible Thomasian, who exhibits compassion for humanity and
contributes in building a better future for the Filipino nation.
Part I: Institutional visit
Visit a charitable institution or NGO (e.g. orphanage, home for the elderly or
PWDs, animal shelter, and the like) that is near and accessible to everyone
in your group. Consider an institution that is secured and has a staff that will
accommodate your group.
Conduct an interview with the staff and/or resident. It is vital that you should
prepare guide questions during your interaction and show genuine interest
and listen carefully to what theyre saying. Respect their ideas.

beneficiaries/residents (minimum of 3)

Part II: Individual Reflection (to be collated by the group leader)

After your interaction with the people from the institution, you should be
more aware on some of the social issues in our country. Share your thoughts
and insights regarding the issues and realities that you have experienced.
1. How do you feel about the physical & social environment of the
institution?
2. What about the life stories shared by the staff/residents struck you the
most? In what way did it affect you?
3. What could our government and other concerned agencies do to deal
with the said issue/s?
4. How can you strengthen your faith in humanity?

Reminders:
Coordinate properly with the institution.
Make sure to document (photos or videos) your institutional visit.
There should be a group photo of all the members together with
the interviewee/s. The caption should include the names of the people
in the photo.
Everyone should be present during the institutional visit. Members who
failed to join their group should organize another institutional visit.
If theres a need for an endorsement letter, write one addressed to the
institutions administration/staff and have it noted by your facilitator.
Submit the assignment in MS Word format.
