BBC
The documentary is about the BBC World Service.
The worlds largest international broadcaster started its work in 1932. First
programmers were very different from today. Firstly, it broadcasted only in
English. Secondly, the announcers spoken very slowly and clearly. One of the most
important event of BBC history was period of the fascist occupation and the
Second World War. 1938 was the year of beginning broadcasting to the Middle
East, in Arabic. And then all the countries occupied by the Nazis could listen BBC.
The BBC got a reputation for honesty and accuracy thanks to broadcasting as
positive as negative news about British participation in the Second World War.
The World service still broadcasts the news for people of different nationalities.
Number of languages reaches 39 now. News before broadcasting is checked
serious in newsroom by 140 journalists. Broadcasters are not always in great
request with governments and the BBC World Service is not exception. For
example, in the Soviet Union house arrested President Gorbachev could learn news
about happenings in his country just listening to the BBC. While it was jammed for
many years by the Soviet Union. Now the BBC is a radio channel and also a TV
channel. A hundred and thirty million people get news from the worlds largest
international broadcaster every week.
