Hello,

My name is Carlee Wika, I am a senior at Northern State University majoring in Elementary and Special
Education. I am also receiving endorsements in Early Childhood Education as well as a reading minor. In
2011, I graduated from T.F. Riggs High School. I lived in Pierre all my life until I made the great decision
to further my education at Northern State University. I have plenty of hobbies, some of which include my
favorites, cooking/baking, reading and spending times with loved ones.
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. My original plan was to teach high school, however,
after working with children at the South Dakota School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Youth
Development Center I learned that I really enjoy and appreciate working with younger kids, which lead
me to my current majors and endorsements. I have learned throughout the years that working with
children is one of the most influential and rewarding careers to have. I look forward to being able to have
a classroom of my own to provide encouragement, knowledge and guidance so that each student has the
opportunity to learn and grow in my classroom.
