Objective

To test whether chlorophyll is responsible for the green color of the leaves.
Hypothesis
the green color of the leaves of trees is due to chlorophyll, the pigment necessary for
photosynthesis and responsible for the green color of these.
Question:
it should be that color?
observations:
we observe the green leaves of trees
Results: The sheet of paper is stained a deep green color.
theoretical framework:
Chlorophyll is not the only pigment in green plants. xanthophyll and carotene are also
present and can produce colors that vary from red to yellow. but chlorophyll, with its
green color, masks pigments. in autumn, chlorophyll is destroyed rapidly in some trees
and then the coloration of other pigments appears and the leaves turn yellow.
The green color of plants gives it chlorophyll. This pigment absorbs the solar energy
and accumulates on the ground in the form of proteins and sugars. Green plants are the
only creatures on earth that process nutrients with the help of the sun.
the green so uniformly present in vegetables is due to the presence of two closely
related pigments called chlorophyll (a) and chlorophyll (b), which are found in virtually all
seed plants, ferns, mosses and algae.
Plants use chlorophyll and photosynthetic pigment because it has the ability to absorb
energy from sunlight, especially red light, and cede to the elaboration of carbohydrates
from two available compounds in the environment: water (H2O) and carbon dioxide
(CO2).

Elaboration of the experiment:

materials:
strainer
container
alcohol
spoon
filter paper or paper sheet
green leaves of any plant
process:
a) into the container 250 milliliters alcohol
b) chopping one or two leaves and place in colander
c) crushing the leaves using the spoon on container with alcohol
d) when alcohol acquires a green remove the strainer
e) dipping one end of the sheet of paper alcohol by one or two hours
f) record observations
