Time: 1015-1230 hrs Activity: 1. Attend as Observers, the very last session on Day 2 of a Scientific Workshop. 2. Attendance is compulsory. Your class rep will be taking your attendance. 3. Event: 3rd Pillar Workshop (Marine Environment) KESBAN at Sea; Dates: 26 27 September 2016; Venue: Auditorium, Postgraduate Centre, UMS, Kota Kinabalu (Co-organized by: UMS MIMA MKN Sabah). 4. NOTE: Day 1 is a whole day activity, with two sessions, morning and afternoon sessions. Day 2 is a half day activity. Day 1 morning session include a Welcoming Remark by UMS VC, two Keynote Addresses (one each by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, and by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Sabah), and one presentation each by MIMA, BMRI-UMS, DOF Sabah and Sabah Parks. Day 1 afternoon session will involve a Break out Group Discussion. There will be four discussion groups, which are: 1) Conservation and Preservation, 2) Resources and Food Security: capture fisheries, 3) Resources and Food Security: aquaculture, and 4) Association/ industry. Day 2 will resume with a presentation of the first days discussions, and followed with Summary of Discussion by Panel. This last session will be co-chaired by UMS and MIMA. The panel members are: MKN Sabah, DOF Sabah, and Sabah Parks. 5. As preparation to attend as an observer in this event, find out the following terms, and answer these questions: a) KESBAN, and KESBAN at sea; b) MIMA; c) MKN Sabah; d) DOF Sabah; e) What is the role of Sabah Parks? f) Who is UMS VC? g) Who is the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah? h) Who is the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Sabah? 6. After attending the event, write a short group report on the Summary of Discussion by Panel. 7. For your report, as usual, think of a suitable title, and use suitable sub-headings. Include in your report, your findings to No. 5 above. Conclude your report with a sub-heading entitled KESBAN at Sea: how Capture Fisheries in Sabah is affected by Malaysia KESBAN at Sea Border Policy(ies). This last part is your groups opinion on the matter. For this purpose, I expect you to discuss among members of your respective groups on what you think about this; you may of course, support your opinions and/or arguments with citations of additional related references. 8.
