A READER-RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF TRES-SINE PANITIK

1. Faith, Love, Time and Dr. Lazaro

Man VS Self
The dominant conflict of the story is that Dr. Lazaro is struggling in his faith to God. He
is doubtful about Him because hes thinking why sometimes, someone dies or there is
someone who he cant heal.
The theme of the story is TRUST because Dr. Lazaros faith is involved. Through the
story, we were able to know how he overcame the struggles in his faith.
2. Tata Selo
Man VS Man
The dominant conflict in the story is that Tata Selo killed Kabesa Tano. To give a
background, Tata Selo once owned a certain land but because his wife got sick, he had to
sell it for a while to Kabesa Tano to earn money though in the end, he was not able to
take back the land because of the lack of money, so He just asked the kabesa if can be the
one to farm the land. After some time, the kabesa went back and told Tata Selo to go
away. Tata Selo begged him but Kabesa Tano had hit him with a stick instead.
The theme of the story is SACRIFICE because he loves his family too much. His wife
died but they have a daughter named Saing who is also sick. He wants to support her
daughter and to let her rest but in the end, he has created another problem that would
make it harder for him to support his daughter.
3. Sandaang Damit
Man VS Society
The dominant conflict in the story is that the child twisted the truth. I believe she really
was saying the truth about the hundreds of clothes she has. She described it very well
because she drew them. Additional information is that she was pressured by her
classmates that is why is decided to twist the truth.
The theme of the story is RESPECT because if her classmates know how to respect a
person, she would not have ended in that state.
