‘Media Statement from Williamsville Mayor Brian J. Kulpa
September 26, 2016
“Christopher J. Duquin informed me today that he is requesting an indefinite leave
of absence.
“have approved his requested leave of absence, effective September 26, 2016.
“As a result of Chris’ requested leave of absence, I have appointed Trustee Daniel
Delano to serve as Deputy Mayor through the end of the official village year, aso
effective September 26, 2016.
“Since hi election as a Trustee in 2011, Dan has made many contributions to our
residents and to village government.
“He has championed the restoration of trees on Main Street and has been
instrumental in the planting of more than 1,000 trees on our streets as part of a
village-wide beautification campaign. These efforts have also had a very postive
impact on property values.
“Dan helped with the elimination of excessive curb cuts on Main Street, resulting
in less traffic problems and increased pedestrian safety on this busy thoroughfare.
He also helped restore more than one-half acre of illegally paved right of ways and
contributed to improved parking throughout the village.
“He worked to streamline the Department of Public Works through the funding of
better and more efficient equipment, and has been instrumental in building a closer
relationship with the Amherst Police Department,
“Dan played a key role in completing the installation of a surveillance system in
Garrison Park, and new restrooms in South Long Park.“Always willing to seek and accept public input as the ‘eyes on the street’ for any
ue regarding quality-of-life issues inthe village, Dan refuses to allow polities
and/or personal agendas to get in the way of progress.
“As a co-founder of “Friends of the Village of Williamsville, Inc.” during the
village's dissolution period, Dan was able to meet with and get to know many
residents and this experience has helped him in gaining resident consensus on
many issues.
“Look forward to working closely with Dan and the entire village board as we
continue to make Williamsville a great place to live, work, learn and play.”
