Manholes

According to Garg, (2004) he defined a manhole as the top opening to an underground utility
vault used to house an access point for making connections or performing maintenance works
underground. GARG went on to specify places where reticulation manholes should be
located. Manholes are located over the pipe centerline basically;

at changes in gradient

at changes in direction

at changes in pipe size

at changes in alignment

at intersections with other sewers (maximum change 900)

at changes in pipe material.
