Paul Cezanne

(January 19, 1839 - October 22, 1906) was a French artist

and Post-Impressionist painter
Cezanne's work demonstrates a mastery of design, colour,
composition and draftsmanship.
A quote that truly inspired me that was : the eye has to do
more than just see. It has to think.
Cezanne painted a tremendous amount of still lives, with
fruit and paintings of flowers his particular favorites.

He would often spend hours perhaps even days

setting up his bowls of fruit so that they were exactly
how he wanted them

Cezanne inspired me by making me think that drawing an

object shouldnt be for any sake, it is deeper than that. I
realized that you have to look at the relationships between
objects that are being drawn and look at the harmony that is
created with this still life

He occasionally did flower paintings as can be seen in the

flower art here. Here the greens dominate but the reds have
given a sense of warmth within the painting it has evenly
broken down the contrasts between these two colors. His
brush strokes have created sharp cuttings in the work and
this creates a sort of tension in the painting.
This piece was one of my favorites he has incorporated both
items he loves to draw into one piece that truly blend with
one another.
