We enjoy celebrating achievements. Please
encourage your child to share these and
bring in certificates, medals or a note of
achievement.

There will be lessons in Maths and

Numeracy and Literacy every day. Social
subjects, Sciences, Technologies, Health
and Wellbeing, RME and Expressive Arts
will be delivered during the course of
each week/term.

Weekly home learning is to reinforce

core learning. There will be a homework
grid issued weekly on a Monday and
completed homework should be returned
on a Friday.

Respect, responsibility, kindness,

fairness and unity are Newton Primary
Schools values. Children are expected to
uphold these values at all times.

Efforts and high standards are expected

in Primary 5. Children are encouraged to
always try their best and to take pride in
their learning.

Children will experience a variety of

learning contexts in Primary 5. In term 1,
our context is The Olympics.

Parents are important in supporting

learning. If you have a skill or knowledge
to share, please let us know. We would
also appreciate parent support for
excursions taking place throughout the
year.

Banded books will begin to be issued

weekly to encourage regular reading at
home. They may be read independently or
with an adult.

Each term, an additional task such as a

school challenge, context grid or
presentation task will be issued.

If necessary, incomplete class work may

be sent home for children to finish at
home.

Thank you for your support,

Miss Kenny and Mr Robertson
