20th CENTURY FOX FILM

COMPANY
"THE WORLD IS READY TO RECEIVE
MASTERPIECES OF CINEMA... JUST AS IT IS
READY TO RECEIVE MASTERPIECES OF ART, OR
LITERATURE, OR SCULPTURE. -WILLIAM FOX

History
20th Century Fox began in a tiny theater on New Yorks Lower
East Side. In 1904, 25-year-old Hungarian immigrant William Fox
amazed audiences with his magical hand-cranked films. By 1915 Foxs
five-cent movie shows were wildly popular and his single screen grew
first into a chain of 25 theaters around New York City and then into a
movie making business. Having only started with painted walls for
movie screens and folding chairs for viewers, Fox transformed the future
of 20th Century Fox film company.

The desire to entertain and move people has been at the core of
what 20th Century Fox has been doing ever since.

merged his film company with the rising movie powerhouse Twentieth
Century Pictures, founded in 1935. The renamed 20th Century Fox

day.
