McAfee Antivirus Plus License Registration and ReInstallation Instruction Readme

Thank You for Purchasing the OEM version of McAfee Antivirus from HCL Infosystems Limited.

McAfee Antivirus Plus Antivirus offers security to prevent malicious attacks, so that you can protect
what you value as well as surf, search, and downloads with confidence. McAfee Site Advisors Web
safety ratings help you avoid unsafe Web sites. It also provides security against multi-pronged
attacks by combining anti-virus, and firewall technologies. McAfees security service continuously
delivers the latest software through online to purchase so your protection is never out-of-date.
Your computer is preloaded with the OEM version of the McAfee Antivirus It is mandatory to
register your copy of purchased McAfee product using the product key supplied with your license
sheet, your name, Email and password to create an account to get the regular virus signature
download, re-install the software and get the subscription back.

To start McAfee Antivirus Plus:

In the Windows notification area, double-click the McAfee Antivirus Plus icon
Windows taskbar, Click Start > All Programs > McAfee > McAfee Antivirus Plus.

When you start McAfee Antivirus Plus, the main window opens. You can see the links and option
bars in the center of the main window provide access to all McAfee features, options, Help, and
Support.

Registration: (require a working Internet connection)

NOTE: Before start registering, ensure the internet connection setting Connect to internet is fully
configured in your computer and you are able to surf to Internet and access websites.
Registration is mandatory to start your subscription period of your purchased McAfee Antivirus
product; your subscription time will start from the date of registration. When you start your
computer for the first time, you will be prompted to register the copy of your Antivirus through
Internet. The on-screen instruction will guide you to Finish the registration. Alternatively, click on
Activate Product option by right-clicking on the McAfee icon
available on the windows system
tray to finish Registration.
From factory, computer will be preloaded with the OEM version of the McAfee Antivirus. It is
mandatory to register your copy of purchased McAfee product using the product key, your name,
Email and password to create an account to get the regular virus signature download.

I) Steps for first time Registration For Factory preloaded build (Internet connection
required)
1. click McAfee shortcut icon on Desktop. Below screen will appears
2. Select Subscription option and click Activate option on right top corner (Internet

connection required)

3. Below screen appears,

Enter the Product Key. (Product key will be available in the license sheet)
Product Key will be validated through internet. You have to wait for a while.

4. Next screen will appear for creating the McAfee Login account,
Enter your First Name & Last Name
Enter your E-mail Address then type the password
Note:

Password should be of eight digits long with alphabets (A-Z) and at least one
Numeric (0-9)
Example password: PASSWORD123
Then Accept the License Agreement and click next.

5. Processing activation of antivirus screen will appear. (It will take few minutes for
activation)

6. Below screen shows the completion of successful activation.

7. Note down your E-mail Address and then select Finish.

You can also verify the created account status and subscription details by login using the created
Email and password in MacAfee portal http://au.mcafee.com, which can be also explored from the
taskbar icon Right click on taskbar icon > View my Account

Do not loose/forget your email ID & password. Protect your Email ID and password in a safe
place, which will be used for further Installation if your operating system or Installed Antivirus
gets crashed. Keep the password confidential. Do not forget the email ID which is used for
registration. If you forget your email id, there is no way to reinstall / reregister your software.

II) Steps for Registration after reinstalling the software :

Follow these steps when you reinstall the antivirus software due to Operating system or antivirus
software crash or corruption. These steps requires that you have already registered successfully
the copy of your HCL preloaded McAfee Antivirus product using a valid Email ID (as explained in
point I) and you have that email ID and password ready.
Use the McAfee Antivirus plus CD media or the dump D:/Mcafee
:/Mcafee to install the software again in
case of re-installation, which were bundled along with the PC purchased.
1. Install the software by normal procedure using Install.exe
2.

McAfee icon has been launched at the right side corner of the task bar.

3. Right click

on that McAfee icon and select Activate Product

4. A prompt for product key will be made, Enter the Product Key and Press Next button.

If you lose the product key, Using your Email ID and password login to http://au.mcafee.com/?affid=678 and view the
product key which you have used for the first time activation (As shown below Activation Key).

5. Enter the Email Address, Password and accept the EULA.

6. Press Next Button, Where the account will be validated

7. Processing activation of antivirus screen will appear. (It will take few minutes for
activation)

6. Below screen shows the completion of successful activation.

How to check the subscription period in Mcafee?

1.

McAfee icon has been launched at the right side corner of the task bar.

2. Double click
on that Mcafee icon or right click to select Open McAfee Antivirus Plus
3. You can see the subscription period after successful registration under the Subscription

NOTE: In case aDer entering the license key,and aDer enter Email Id & password, if you find
the below error message (i.e. email address or password youve entered is incorrect).
Proceed with below steps for activation

2. Using your Email ID and password login to http://au.mcafee.com/?affid=678

(Internet connection required).below screenshot will appear.

3. Click on Download then patch file McAfeeSetup.exe will be downloaded

4. Click on McAfeeSetup.exe, it will automatically uninstall the existing McAfee antivirus and
reinstall the McAfee antivirus with new built version (Internet connection required)
5. After completion of reinstallation, manually reboot the machine
6. Now Check the Status of activation. Refer below screen shot for activation status
7. You can see the subscription period for successful activation.
