"HOLIDAY PARTY HELD IN THE CITY OF TARAPOTO"

The city of tarapoto three very salient festivities held:


The landlady of "The Holy Cross of Motilones"
The Feast "Holy Cross of Motilones" is the cult of the sacred symbol of
Christianity Motilones Indians (skulls or skinhead), who were subjected to
order and obedience by the Incas and the Spanish. The iron of this tribe,
spirit resisted at first to accept a new culture and a new religion; however,
the Cross engorzada fine jasper, illuminated the minds of motilones and was
slowly crashing into their hearts, one by one were joining the religion despite

It was founded by the Bishop of Trujillo, Don Baltasar Jaime Martnez
Compan And BUJANDA, Santa Cruz Motilones of Tarapoto in the year 1782.
The Provincial Municipality of San Martin, rescuing this tradition, held from 07
to 19 July its patron saint.

The day of "San Juan"


This is one of the biggest festivals celebrating the entire population of the
Peruvian jungle. Symbolizes water purification and joy for the gifts of nature.
During two days, 23 and 24 June, villagers engage in reflection, but also the
fun and joy that inspire feelings of brotherhood and unity between jungle.
According to legend, St. John the Baptist was chosen by God Himself as
Patron of the Amazona. In night, while he slept, the image is revealed in his

dream as San Juan Bautista. The Santo said he had been appointed by God to
be a pattern throughout the region and as such should revere and erect a
church.
Image orders were obeyed by the people. A church rose and there were great
celebrations in honor of the patron saint. As a reward, San Juan, by
appearances, indicated the favorable for planting and determined the best
time to harvest places.
The typical dish of this celebration is the "Juane", a special preparation that
usually consists of rice, eggs, olives, sacha coriander and dams goose farm,
wrapped in plant leaves known as Bijao that is what gives a distinctive flavor.
The wrapper is a round shape juane depicting the head of this saint, when he
was ordered to bring him on a plate by the daughter of Herodias.

religious
devotion,

Christian faith

miracles
received at the

This time for love and devotion to the patron saint Santa Rosa de Lima, there
