About the Author

Raised in Battle Creek, Michigan, Michael became hooked on the world of mystery fiction at age
fourteen when he discovered Conan Doyle and Dashiell Hammett. His first mystery short was
done as a school project. He attended Laurentian University, B.A. English, and Humber College,
Dramatic & Comic Scriptwriting. His idea of an escape is to slip off to that calming center of the
universe, New York City.
Michael counts as a research source a formerly active member of one of New York City's major
crime families who has since retired from "The Life" and who works now for various police
departments as a for-hire CI, confidential informant. Someone who can develop intel leads and
sources and has played a key role in cracking a number of front-page crime cases -- strictly non
