This phrase here was improvised right off the cuff, which is why there isnt an example of
me actually demonstrating it slowly (instead we had to slow down the original video for
you). It incorporates a plethora of melodic concepts from arpeggios, embellishments to
substitutions and wide intervals and then some. Try to keep the timing consistent for the
entire line, dont rush! Also have a look at how I shift between picked and tied notes to
achieve a saxophone-like articulation.
As far as you applying this to some of your own playing goes, I recommend to pick out a
small portion of the lick, such as 8 notes at a time, that you enjoy and then work with it by
moving it through a scale, adapting it for different chord types, etc.
