Sizing Pumps and Pipes

The following tables are useful for selecting pumps and determining pipe sizes for various
lengths and flow rates. The pump and pipes are sized to provide for the estimated peak
flow rate. The peak flow rate can be estimated as follows:
1. Sum the GPM flow rate for all devices that might be in operation at once.
2. Determine the total consumption in gallons per day and use Figure C1.1 to estimate
the peak rate in GPM.
Using the larger GPM flow rate of these two estimates for determining the pump and pipe
sizes.
