Tyler Harr Music 2440 Teaching a Lesson Self-Evaluation #2 Due: Wednesday, Dec. 3rd 1. List any variations from your plan, and describe why you changed your plan. Thad missed the one-minute warning, so we were about to improvise on having smaller portions of the class sing. I should have been more / specific on the number to times that we would sing each slide, or when/if I would model it for them. I got nervous and didn’t think through it enough. 2. Best aspects of my teaching/the lesson: a. Loud teacher voice _7_ blots of modeling, snag through parts for them c. Chunking to help with memory 3. Aspects for improvement: a. Could have had them stand up and be more physically active b. could have included some more vocal pedagogy, breathing techniques and how to create a beautiful tone c. could have moved around, talked to the whole class more 4, What did you notice about your teaching that surprised you from watching the video? I still don’t really like listening to myself talk, and it is even worse when _--Thave to listen to myself sing. But what surprised me was how much Tyler Harr rambling I would do. I need to work on having more focused directions and make sure the directions have actions that the students can follow and achieve. 5. What improvements did you make between lesson #1 and lesson #2? I succeeded in making a more stable and less chaotic classroom environment, but may have taken away some of the fun aspects. In this = I thought that I modeled more and had expectations of what | ‘wanted the class to be able to do. The class was doing less of creating and analyzing, and more copying, which in a full class time would be possible to reach higher on the spectrum. ( x let A? oe
