The poem basically tells us how the author, Francesco Petrarch, felt
when his love Laura died.
2. Petrarch popularized a form of sonnet in which the first eight lines
states the problem and expresses deep emotion. While on the last 6
lines, the resolution is stated.
3. The poet wishes for the comforting companionship of the bird so
they can weep together.
4. He thinks that his grief is not equal to the birds grief. The bird is
sad becomes of the absence of a lover who is still alive, while the
poets lover is dead.

from the "abba abba" pattern, but the last six lines, or "sestet,"
frequently follow a different pattern, such as "cde cde," "cde ced," or
"cdc dee."
