Popular music includes a set of musical genres that appeal to the general
public and are generally distributed to large audiences through the music
industry. This is in contrast to both classical music and traditional music,
which is usually spread by academic route or orally, respectively, more
minority audiences.
Versus traditional or folk music, folk music is not identified with specific
nations or ethnic groups but has an international character. Among the
most representative genres of popular music of our time can be highlighted
the pop, rock, dance or Latin music, among others.
For example I like pop and rock, and hip hop also.
Other names that is sometimes popular music are "light music" or "pop
music", although they are not well suited to be more restrictive and other
meanings. On the other hand, "popular music" sometimes has been used
historically to refer to what we now know as folk or traditional music, a use
that still survives in some contexts. To avoid confusion with the latter
sense, sometimes the term "modern popular music" or simply "modern
music" is used.
Currently in Peru , thanks to diversity of our culture , have spread further
dances , even has come to make fusion between many genres, like the music
of Jean Pierre Magnet or Damaris . In the youth population dominated by
two foreign rhythms , influencing young people by their economic situation :
The youth of the popular classes in the country are marked by reggaeton
mainly Caribbean music that is considered vulgar by most of the population ,
hence its rejection of this group. However also they dominate the
underground rock and salsa.
Young people from the upper and middle classes are diversifying their
tastes , as they are influenced by metal , rock , punk and lately by the socalled Latin, music generated in the combination of merengue with soft and
romantic lyrics
