Abstract

In this experiment we demonstrated and computed the work done after climbing up and
down the stairs of the main building. The weight of each member was taken into account. We
also predicted the graph of potential, kinetic and total mechanical energy. The results gathered
and the predictions made were considerable given that it followed the concept of work, power
and energy.
Introduction
Energy is the central concept tackled in physics, as many times the analysis of a
system's motion involves understanding how energy is changing. Another concept is
work. In Physics, work can be defined as transfer of energy. Work is done on an object when
you transfer energy to that object. It is also the application of a force over a distance. The force is
equal to the weight of the object (W= Fxd). Work done over a period of time is known as power.
General ideas about energy and its conservation diffuse through the entirety of Physics and even
science.

and to determine power output when going up and down stairs.
Theory:
The formulas used for the experiment are as follows:
W=(force)(distance)cos
Where:
F is the magnitude of Force
